Describe your role on the PBS Digital team
My position is somewhat new to the SPI team, as its main focus is going to be on training for the products and services Digital offers. I’ll work to update and expand the current training coursework and opportunities, to include more regular systemwide webinars and lunch and learns, an expanded catalog of virtual trainings for Bento and COVE, etc.
What’s the hardest lesson you’ve learned working in public media?
Don’t think of yourself as an island, in public media we’re all connected. There’s someone there who has been-there-done-that, or has thought about it and is willing to talk to you. If you isolate yourself, you’ll miss out.
Based on what you know now, if you could go back to your first day at PBS and give yourself one piece of advice, what would it be?
Meet and talk to everyone who will let you. In 2011 I came to PBS as an intern, which afforded me a lot of opportunities that don’t naturally exist as a permanent employee. Oh and learn people’s names as soon as possible.

Google.com (…and everything under the banner of Google.)

What is your favorite mobile app?
Timeshel, a subscription photo printing app. Not too long ago I was pursuing being a photographer, and worked in the darkroom printing black and white and color photos. While photographer isn’t my current job title, I’ve not lost that connection to the physical print.
