What is the PBS KIDS Writer's Contest module?

The Writer’s Contest Module is designed to allow you to show off the great local content that has been generated through your stations participation in the PBS KIDS Writers Contest. Designed to look the same as the national site’s story gallery, the module allows you to present the stories submitted through your member station to your local audience. With options that include station branding, multi-faceted filtering, and the ability to upload local stories into the national CMS, this module is a great way for you to highlight the wonderful content being created by the kids in your community!

I want to add this module to my website

(thumbs up)I am ready to implement the PBS KIDS Writer's Contest module!

Customization options

The PBS KIDS Writer's Contest module can be implemented in many different options and customizations. The following are your customization options for the PBS KIDS Writer's Contest module:

  • By replacing “CALL_LETTERS” with your station call letters and replacing “FILTER” with "off" in the code, your module will display your station’s branding and will only show stories submitted by kids in your member station community.
  • By replacing “CALL_LETTERS” with your station call letters and replacing “FILTER” with "on" in the code, your station branding will not appear in the module. However, the module will load with only stories submitted by kids in your member station community. Additionally, a filter will be available that will allow users to look at other station submitted stories.
  • By leaving the “CALL_LETTERS” untouched and replacing “FILTER” with "on" in the code, the module will act like the “Read Stories” section of the national website (in other words, nothing about this experience will be customized to your station).
  • BE AWARE: By leaving the “CALL_LETTERS untouched and replacing “FILTER” with "off" in the code, the module will break. Please do not set the module this way.
