Your TechCon 2018 Checklist

Whether this is your first TechCon or your 40th, it’s a smart thing to plan ahead! Once you arrive at The Mirage in Las Vegas, don’t be daunted by the sheer number of sessions and events.
Here are some quick tips to help you get the most of of your TechCon experience...
1. DOWNLOAD THE APP
The TechCon APP is now live. Download it on your phone so you can easily be connected to all TechCon info. To get the app for your phone via text message head here. Or, you can use the web version of our app on any web browser.
Check the sessions agenda and schedule, find maps of the hotel, info on the speakers, registration booth hours and much more.
2. EXPLORE THE SESSIONS
2:00PM Welcome to TechCon: Opening Session Join Chief Technology Officer Mario Vecchi and Chief Digital & Marketing Officer Ira Rubenstein as they kick off the 40th anniversary PBS Technology Conference! Kevin Ruppenthal and José Fernández will also teach you how to get the most out of the conference.
8:30AM Keynote: Join Geoff Ramsey, Chief Innovation Officer and Co-Founder of eMarketer as he takes us through industry and viewership trends.
12:00PM Programming Pipeline Luncheon: Bill Gardner from PBS Programming, will share the latest content strategies and preview a number of upcoming shows.
8:30AM State of the System with Paula Kerger: Paula will reflect on the 40th anniversary of TechCon and the integral role that technology plays in fulfilling the essential mission of public broadcasting. She will provide an update on public media in context of the broader industry.
4:30PM TechCon Town Hall: Our closing session will comprise a Town Hall style meeting to address your questions and concerns. Submit your questions in advance via the conference app, or bring them to the session.
Breakouts: Curious about Digital Fundraising? Want to build a strategic digital team? Want to see who is dabbling in VR? There’s a session for that. Check out all breakout sessions here. Digital has 26 sessions for you to choose from.
Collaborative Note-Taking: Back by popular demand! The Digital Media Advisory Council has set up links for each session where you are invited to take notes, and share insights. Very handy to have once you are back at your station! Look for the link in each sessions description, or click here.
3. MEET AND GREET
PBS DIGITAL & MARKETING BOOTH EVENTS: Come hang out with the SPI Team, The DMAC and members of the PBS Digital & Marketing departments as we share demos, host meet ups and provide one-on-one support consultation and support for stations! Connect: Make sure you take advantage of the networking opportunities. Most folks have mentioned that after attending the sessions, the best part of TechCon is meeting up with their colleagues during the breaks.
Most importantly...Drink lots of water, wear comfortable shoes, get outside a little bit, and be ready for anything!
