Connect with the DMAC at TechCon '18
Last Updated by
The countdown has begun to PBS TechCon 2018, which happens to be the 40th anniversary of the conference. We’re less than two weeks away from one of the best places to talk digital in public media.
Last year was my first TechCon (and first trip to Las Vegas) and it was definitely a conference to remember. I left with so many new ideas and best of all new friends and colleagues from stations across the country with whom I could collaborate long after the conference ended.
The PBS Digital Media Advisory Council (DMAC) will once again have a noticeable presence at the conference, with the goal of talking about the importance of digital and connecting with people to develop creative ideas and solve common challenges.
This year, the DMAC has amped up its outreach efforts to connect people across the system working in digital through The DMAC Outreach Network. Though most of our interactions will be by email, phone or videochat, TechCon gives us an opportunity to meet face-to-face. You can come to the PBS Digital booth and meet the DMAC Thursday, April 5 at 3:30pm. It will be a great chance to connect.
Just before that, at 2:30pm on Thursday, the DMAC will be on hand to help solve your biggest digital challenges at the session: Challenge Accepted! We'll solve your thorny digital problems, led by Ami Kim (WCVE/Community Idea Stations) and Colleen Wilson (KQED).
Several other DMAC members (And DMAC alums) will be presenting at conference sessions and we’d love to see you there!
Colleen Wilson (KQED)
Maribel Lopez (Twin Cities PBS)
Taylor Shore (Iowa Public Television)
Deanna Mackey (PTMMG), Cheraine Stanford (WPSU)
Patty Lindley (KCTS9)
Jess Snyder (WETA)
Andrew MacCartney (Georgia Public Broadcasting)
Cheraine Stanford (WPSU), Linda Wei (Nashville Public Television)
The DMAC will once again be organizing collaborative notetaking, which allows everyone to simultaneously take notes during each session. Aside from it being a wonderful post-conference resource, it also helps solve the dilemma of having multiple sessions you want to attend that are scheduled at the same time.
If you haven’t already done so, check out these words of wisdom from DMAC alums Colleen Wilson and Larry Rohrer on thriving at TechCon.
We look forward to meeting and collaborating with everyone.
See you in Vegas!
