Planned Merlin/COVE Outage During Media Manager Launch Cycle

Last Updated by José Fernández on

PBS Digital has been working on a major initiative to expand the metadata model used for local and national PBS digital content, which includes video assets. The PBS Digital Core Data Model will better organize, relate, and present video and other content across all platforms. The Media Manager is the content management system which will publish and distribute video assets across platforms.

The new Media Manager will replace the current Merlin and COVE admin that stations and national producers use every day to upload and update their video content. As part of the roll out, the admin console will be disabled for all users Tuesdays, 2AM-Noon ET, from April 4th to May 2nd (excluding April 18) and the final outage planned for May 2nd.

It is strongly recommended that users plan ahead and create video assets prior to each Tuesday's release date, in the event of unforeseeable, extended ingestion outages. All users must stop using Merlin/COVE by Monday, 11:59PM ET, the night before a Tuesday release, to avoid losing asset/ingestion updates.

If you missed the initial webinar heald August 2016, where we introduced the Core Data Model project, you can listen to the recording here. And, you can catch up on all Core Data Model and Media Manager webinars, including trainings, by visiting here.
