Describe your role on the PBS Station Products and Innovation team... I will be serving a contact between PBS Digital and stations, making sure to connect station digital directors to the right person within PBS for help, and working with them on how to leverage the PBS digital tools to the advantage of their station.
What’s the best lesson you've learned working in public media? That every station is different and one solution will not work for everyone. Also, that public television folks are passionate about our mission. At WETA I worked in Engagement and learned what amazing work stations can do with a bit of support and the right materials. It was an incredible experience.
Based on what you know now, if you could go back to your first day at PBS and give yourself one piece of advice, what would it be? Since my first day was four weeks ago, don’t worry about getting lost. It’s inevitable. Also, give yourself time to catch up. Everyone has a learning curve at the start. Ask as many questions as possible.
What’s the one website you can’t live without? Probably Facebook. If I want to see photos from family and friends it's where I have to go. I also love Previously.tv to catch up on the shows I miss during the week. I love witty recaps.
What’s your favorite YouTube channel (or digital first program)? Last year it was The Lizzie Bennet Diaries. This year it is Green Gables Fables. I love that classic literature is being retold through multiple digital platforms. It brings these stories to life for new generations, and hopefully those who love spoilers will pick up (or download) the book to see what happens next.
What’s your favorite podcast? This one is older, but The Ricky Gervais Show. I was listening on the treadmill once and laughed so hard I fell off.
What is your favorite mobile app? Instagram. I like the simplicity of it.
Describe your perfect day. Hanging out in the Monterey Bay Area of California with my family. Introducing our dog, Willow to Carmel Beach.
If you could have a Google Hangout with any three people, who would you choose? John Oliver, Ken Burns and Jon Stewart. I would learn and laugh quite a bit.
